Unbelievable!

I don't really know what to say. I'm disgusted. The article speaks for itself. How could anyone do this? KARMA

Why Adopt?

I get asked this question all the time, and I don't ever have enough time or energy to answer it, so I thought I would answer it here. My answer: WHY NOT?

There are an estimated 147 Million Orphans in the world. That means 147 million children without parents. 147 million children that could die without enough food, without safe drinking water, without shelter, without medical care, without education, without someone to tuck them in at night, without someone to tell them that they are worthy of love.

I live in Canada. One of the most prosperious countries in the world. I wake up every morning in my house, go down stairs, turn on the tap to get water to make coffee, make breakfast for my family, get my daughter ready for school, and go on with my life. So simple right? Well not for 147 Million people out there. They wake up on cement (or dirt) on the side of the road hungry, scared, without love, without breakfast or water to drink. Hundereds, if not thousands die every day without the world knowing who they were, without someone to tuck them in at night. So my answer to why adopt is WHY WOULDN'T I??????

Amazing!! Imagine1day

This was an amazing display in the streets of Vancouver the first full day of the Olympics, but what most people don't know is that imagine1day is a charity in Canada that builds schools in rural Ethiopia. What a great way to raise awareness.

Of Course!

We passed court today and there has been a lot of emotion. Great happiness that we have a son, great sadness that a father had to give up a son but also clarity. Of course this was all suppose to happen. Of course we weren't meant to get pregnant a 2nd time. Of course we were suppose to adopt from Ethiopia before Haiti. Of course Imagine Adoption needed to go bankrupt. All of this led us to him! I'm a firm believer that everything in life happens for a reason and today it is all clear what that reason is. We needed to go through this journey to bring us to our son. So after all the tears of happiness and sorrow I would formally like to introduce our son Tegegn Chamasa Frank Laferriere.

Greetings from Mexico. We have our 2nd court date. Feb 23rd. Our case worker will be in Ethiopia at that time, so she is going to try and attend. A and M's wedding was beautiful yesterday. Sun was shinning, waves were crashing and the drinks were flowing. 2 more days until we come back to reality!!!!

Not ours YET!!

Well, it's just another loop in the roller coaster ride. MOWA didn't get our letter to court in time so we didn't pass court. They usually make a second court date pretty soon after when this happens, so we wait. He will be our son one day. I have my good friends A & M's wedding today to cheer me up. Cheers from Mexico.

Off to Mexico

We leave for Mexico tomorrow for my good friends A and M's wedding. There are 72 of us going, so it will be great fun. Being that our court date is while we are a way, I will try and post the results from there. 1 week of sunshine, pina colada's and relaxation. Can't wait.......
